ColorWorks TM-C3500 Barcode Printers

The Epson ColorWorks TM-C3500 has reached end of life. It has been replaced by the Epson ColorWorks CW-C4000.

This product replaces the older Epson TM-C3400 SecurColor.

Marrying Epson’s Inkjet printing technology with their DURABrite® Ultra Pigment ink, the ColorWorks C3500 Color Inkjet Label Printer produces vibrant highly durable labels suitable for all major label applications. From shelf tags to product labels, the C3500 is ideal for high volume printing where quality and durability matter.

Building off of its predecessor the C3400, with the fast 4 inches per second print speed and compact design, Epson’s C3500 has added a level of quality with four colors in individual ink cartridges. Best for graphics, the C3500 does not have an ultra photo realistic print proficiency, and is great for cosmetics and jewelry where color and detail are crucial selling points. In addition, the C3500 easily adjusts to handle prints jobs from 1.2” to 4.4’ widths, rear feed capability for fanfold or large label rolls and is available with USB and Ethernet interfaces. The C3500 inkjet label printer will allow you to dramatically reduce label and ink costs, increase efficiency and print high quality labels in four colors on demand.

**For quality results, we highly recommend using only DURABrite® Ultra Pigment ink, and SecurColor labels. Using other accessories will greatly reduce the quality and durability of your label.**

Epson ColorWorks TM-C3500 Reviews

POSGuys Rating:

If you are looking for a fast, easy to use, color printer that doesn't bleed or smudge even as it comes out of the printer than the Epson TM-C3500 is for you. The price is much lower than its' leading competition and the durability testing POSGuys performed shows amazing resilience. In one of our tests we submerged the label for one year in water and there was no bleeding or smudging. Another improvement is the money you save on ink. Four cartridges instead of one combined cartridge allow you to replace colors as you need them.

We love the printer but there are some caveats to be aware of. You need to use approved label media. We've tested the print quality between the two and if you aren't using labels designed for the TM-C3500 then you are not going to get the best results. You may even get bad results as in the case of one of our customers who went with a generic label. The print quality on images and text is excellent and a big improvement over the C3400. That being said if you are looking for a ultra-high gloss photo-realistic images it may not be what you need. We wrote a blog showing large closeups of the print quality as well as the durability testing. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Epson TM-C3500 Video

Hi, this is Travis from POSguys. Today we're taking a look at the Epson TM-C3500. This is a follow-up to the TM-C3400, but there's some significant improvements that make this printer really fantastic compared to the older version. The main thing that stands out is that the printer cartridge system has changed. In the old version, the printer it was a single cartridge, and you had CMY, it was mixed together in a single cartridge, and when you did black the three colors would mix together and it would make like a brown-grey-black. And so it was close to black, but it wasn't quite black. Additionally, if you ran out of one of the colors, the red ran out or the blue ran out, then that cartridge was done. You'd toss it out and you'd get a new one. With the TM-C3500, your four different colors, instead of three, are all individualized.

So here's the black cartridge right there. When you run out of black, you replace the black. This loads in, and you're done. Like the 3400, this is a continuous roll media printer with an autocutter. It can print on a pre cut labels that are specifically a certain size, but this uses continuous media. And I have it printing again, and it's going to print out what you see on the screen. So here's a little sample label. The barcode prints in black, the text down here prints in black. The image and the words are all in color. So it prints nice and vibrant. You see the reds, the greens, the blues. Overall it does a really nice job for quick printing. Additionally, the ink on it is quick-drying, so if you notice I'll rub my fingers on it and it doesn't smudge the ink.

We did some durability testing of the labels after they are printed. The first bottle that you're going to see is the control bottle, that's just a bottle labeled up and there's nothing done to it, it looks fine. The second product is a product that we put in the freezer. Third is a product that we submerged in water and just let it soak. And the fourth bottle is one that's kind of simulated being steamed on or sprayed on, so it's a bottle that we just splashed water on. And the fifth one we tried to weatherize, so we put it outside when it was rainy and windy. This is the matte material of the label, they also have a glossy stock out there, and different custom media manufacturers have produced different other labels for different scenarios. For cold storage, there's a special type of glue and backing on the labels so it will stay on in cold storage better.

There's more durable types of labels, and there's also things like wristband labels if you want to do color wristband printing to really advertise your product. But as well as differentiate between different levels, you know if you have age restrictions, so children under the age of 12 have green wristbands, and over 12 has red wristbands, or things like that. Using color, you can mark things like hazards, ages, other things like that where you want ot see color and quickly identify what you're doing.

So the C3500 is really good for that type of thing. Like the 3400, it's drop-in media. Right here is one long roll of media. It's continuous and it just cuts whenever you need it. You just drop it in place, close the door, and it loads up. the cutting is automatic, if I print multiples. The C3500 is a great label printer for a small business that wants to do color labels. It's definitely a much more high end look than just a traditional black and white label. It also has carry-over usage if you're going to be doing any kind of ticketing or you want to be marking out hazards or you need to quickly identify colors within either you labels or a wristband or a ticket or that type of thing. To purchase the C3500 or it's media, please visit our website at POSGuys.com. Thanks!
