My USB receipt printer worked in the past, but has stopped printing. How can I get it to print again?

Question

My USB receipt printer worked in the past, but has stopped printing. How can I get it to print again?

Answer

In most cases, a USB printer will fail to work when it is connected to your new system because the USB port setting in the print driver is incorrect. Please follow these steps to fix this issue, being certain that your printer is powered on and connected to the computer:

  1. Click Start, then click Printers and Faxes. (If this is not present in your start menu, click Run and type control printers. In Windows Vista or Windows 7, simply type control printers into the start menu. Press Enter.)
  2. Locate your printer. Right-click the printer, then select Properties.
  3. Click the Ports tab. Scroll through the list until you find ports beginning with "USB."
  4. If there is a USB virtual printer port which does not have an associated printer, click to select check box next to the port name. Click Apply.
  5. Click the General tab, then click Print Test Page.

If a test page printed, congratulations: You have successfully fixed your printer. If a test page did not print, there may be other issues. In this case, you may peruse our FAQ further, or contact technical support for further help.
