What equipment is required to operate a printer-driven cash drawer?

In order to use a printer-driven cash drawer, three components are necessary: a cash drawer, a receipt printer with a cash drawer kick port, and the correct cash drawer cable.

Generally speaking, all receipt printers are capable of kicking any cash drawer. In order to assure correct operation, however, a cash drawer cable compatible with both your cash drawer and receipt printer is necessary.
