Gryphon I GD4400-B Presentation Barcode Scanners
The DataLogic Gryphon I GD4400-B has reached end of life. It has been replaced by the DataLogic Gryphon GD4500.
The Datalogic Gryphon I GD4400-B 2D barcode scanner combines the power of Datalogic's Gryphon line with the stability you expect from a presentation scanner. The built-in ratchet stand holds the scanner steady on your counter, and offers various tilt angles to meet your needs. A 4-dot aimer with center cross identifies the optimal scanning window, speeding up operations. Datalogic's green spot technology provides a visual cue of successful scan, fantastic for locations where the audible beep either can't or shouldn't be heard.
Datalogic built the Gryphon I GD440-B to seamlessly switch from hands-free to handheld mode. Using Motionix motion sensing technology, the scanner automatically switches to hands-free mode when on a counter, avoiding manual reconfiguration or using a mechanical switch which may break. This combination of easy to use handheld scanning as well as hands-free presentation scanning makes the Gryphon I GD-4400-B a smart fit for retailers who may sell products too big/heavy to fit on the counter.
The rugged design of the Gryphon I GD4400-B offers durability ideal for rough retail or even warehouse store use. The IP52 seal on the scanner keeps out windblown dust and some water splashes, excellent if used in a garden center, for instance. Rubberized corners and reinforced internals protect the Gryphon I GD4400-B from drops of up to 5.9 feet to concrete. Datalogic offers a 5-year warranty with the scanner, making the Gryphon I GD4400-B a smart and long-lasting investment.

Gryphon I GD4400-B Barcode Scanner Review Video
Hi, this is Camille with POSGuys.com. Today I'm demonstrating the GD4400-B Gryphon I scanner. This is a hybrid barcode scanner, it scans 2D and 1D barcodes. What makes it unique is it has an automatic transitioning feature between hand-held mode and presentation mode. The GD4400-B is capable of scanning 1D barcodes, PDF417s, and 2D barcodes. it has pretty good range for standard barcodes. Getting up to about 15 inches here before it slows down. Some interesting things that the scanner can read are cell phones, so this is a great new feature. [beeps] No problem. And lower contrast, like scanning barcodes on cardboard, or light barcodes on light surfaces, or curved surfaces. It doesn't have any problem with that. It's also very good at scanning barcodes in direct sunlight. I'll show you an example. Put it under my bright light there, and scan, and it doesn't have any problems at all.
The GD4400-B has a very advanced scan engine, and I'll demonstrate that with this test here. I'm gonna [scratching] run some lines through this barcode. Just try and mess it up so that the scanner won't be able to read it. [beep] But it doesn't have any problem at all.
The Gryphon I has a pivoting base, so it'll tilt downwards, and upwards. It's free-standing no matter which way you tilt it so you can leave it however is most comfortable.
One of the key features of the GD4400-B is that it has automatic transitioning between hand-held and hands-free mode. So in hand-held mode it operates just like any regular scanner. That's hand-held. And then you set it down, without pushing any buttons, or reconfiguring the barcode scanner, it automatically switches to presentation mode, where you can scan barcodes without holding it. It also features an interesting and unique targeting reticle. So you have a cross-hair, surrounded by four dots to help you line up the barcode in the most ideal position. So, [beep] like that. And if you noticed, there is a green dot. That is your indicator that the barcode has been correctly scanned. So you can hear the beep right now, but if you wanted to take that off, you'd have that green dot, and you'd still be able to tell that the barcode was scanned correctly. The best feature on the GD4400-B is its ability to transition seamlessly from hand-held and hands-free presentation mode. This is great because it means you only need one scanner, you don't have to have an omni scanner, you can just use this one. It is available in black and white. It has optional USB, serial, or PS/2 keyboard wedge interfaces. It has a 5-year manufacturers warranty.
