FAQ# 1110: Is there a touchscreen or touch monitor for a Windows 98 PC?

Question

Is there a touchscreen or touch monitor for a Windows 98 PC?

Answer

ELO monitors using accutouch (wire resistive touch) or intellitouch (capacitive touch) have legacy drivers that will support Windows98/NT/2000 operating systems. One particular model that will support Windows 98 is the ELO 1515L LCD Touchscreen.

If your legacy PC has an available serial port, it is recommended that you buy a serial model. You will need to configure the touch drivers to be the serial port and configure the port and driver settings to match. In most cases this is N,900,N,8,1.

If you only have USB ports available, then there are ELO drivers for USB interface touch monitors. However, getting windows 98 to recognize the drivers sometimes can be difficult. The Windows 98 Touchscreen Driver is available here.
