FAQ# 2121: How long of a USB cable can I use?
Question
How long of a USB cable can I use?
Answer
With USB cables, the maximum recommended length is 15 feet (4.5 meters). Any further than 15 feet (4.5 meters), will cause loss of signal, and intermittent issues with communicating to the connected devices. This occurs because USB sends out a message from the host and then waits for a response back. In a cable longer than 15 feet, this request and response takes too long, and this delay can prevent the device from functioning properly.
