FAQ# 2198: My Zebra label printer seems to be in a "Hex Dump" mode of some sort. How do I fix this?

Question

My Zebra label printer seems to be in a "Hex Dump" mode of some sort. How do I fix this?

Answer

In order to correct the issue with the Zebra label printer being in a hex dump mode, you will need to specify which language the printer is primarily going to use. In most cases, that language will be ZPL.

In order to change the language, you will need to complete the following steps:

- Install Zebra Setup Utility
- Open communication with printer
- Type cmd [ ! setvar "device.languages" "zpl" ]

This should put your printer in a mode that will only read ZPL formatting, and get it out of hex dump. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
