FAQ# 2310: Why is my label printer "squeaking" while printing?

Question

Why is my label printer "squeaking" while printing?

Answer

Depending on the number of print jobs that are sent through the printer, eventually the gear and bearing grease points wear down, and will need to be re-lubricated to prevent further noise.

The type of grease that needs to be used on printers is a silicon based gear grease which can be found in many hardware or automotive stores.

If the noise has not been resolved by re-greasing the gear and bearing points, then a call to the manufacturer may be warranted.
