FAQ# 2314: What's the difference between the Datalogic Joya Touch A6 and the new Memor 1?

Question

What's the difference between the Datalogic Joya Touch A6 and the new Memor 1?

Answer

The quick answer is: There's not much, but where there are differences, it does matter.

The two devices, the Memor being designed closely to the Joya, have basically the same dimensions, the same options for form factor (handheld or pistol-grip), and even the same processor and memory options. They boast a similar resilience when dropped, same touchscreen tech, and the same radios. The differences, however, allow you to take the Memor a little farther than you would the Joya.

The Joya would be ideal for the retail floor, allowing for fast usage, charging, database/inventory access, and both 1D and 2D scanning. While the Memor 1 can perform all these same functions, it runs the latest version of Android (8.1 Oreo), and negates the need for being careful and/or cleaning charging contacts by introducing the first wireless-charging POS device on the market. Along with the upper-end Memor 10, the Memor 1 can experience fast charging without the need of accurately placing the unit in a charging base, or making sure those contacts are kept up in any way. It also sports one of the newest and slimmest scan engines in the industry, making it a light-weight, accurate, and versatile helper for the 21st century.
