How can I test my printer-driven cash drawer without point of sale software?

Question

How can I test my printer-driven cash drawer without point of sale software?

Answer

WITH AN EPSON OR POS-X PRINTER

  1. If the printer is not already set as your default printer, right-click the printer and select Set as Default Printer.
  2. Open WordPad.  In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type wordpad, and press Enter.  In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start, type wordpad and press Enter.
  3. Select the control font.  If it does not show up in your font list, click File, then click Print. Select your Epson or POS-X printer, click Apply (if available), then click Cancel.  If it still does not show up, close WordPad and reopen it according to step 2.
  4. Type the letter A.
  5. Print the document.
  6. If your drawer is functional and connected correctly, it should kick.

WITH ANY OTHER PRINTER
