Empower your workers with next-generation connectivity
Snap-and-go pairing with eConnex™
With eConnex™ technology, workers can quickly pair the sled to supported Zebra mobile computers with a simple, snap-and-go experience. This design helps future-proof deployments as new Zebra mobile computers (including WWAN-enabled variants) and supported adaptor solutions become available.
Wireless pairing where it fits
Premium/Premium Plus and RFD40-M Premium Plus models add wireless flexibility with Bluetooth® 5.3 and NFC tap-to-pair, making it easier to connect to Zebra mobile computers and supported third-party smartphones for RFID workflows that need added mobility and convenience.
Unparalleled efficiency for faster inventory and item finding
High-speed tag reading and ultra-accurate item finder
The RFD40 family is designed to decrease cycle-counting time with fast tag reads and an ultra-accurate item-finder mode. A tri-function programmable trigger helps workers switch quickly between RFID reading, barcode scanning (on applicable models) and a programmable third function such as enter or push-to-talk.
All-shift power with fast swap convenience
A high-capacity battery and quick-release design support long shifts and easier power management without unnecessary downtime — helping teams keep scanning and counting hour after hour.
Premium Plus models add integrated 1D/2D barcode scanning
One device for RFID and barcode capture
On Premium Plus models, an integrated barcode imager adds 1D and 2D scanning for the kinds of barcodes that slow teams down — including poorly printed, damaged, dirty, crinkled, low-contrast, glossy and electronic barcodes on dimly lit mobile phone displays.
Adaptable solutions that scale with your devices
Tool-free adaptor changes
Easy-to-change, tool-free adaptors are designed to help associates swap configurations quickly while maintaining compatibility, without needing to send devices to IT for retrofitting.
Smartphone support (where applicable)
Supported adaptor ecosystems enable attaching a variety of smartphones, giving teams additional flexibility to extend RFID workflows across device types when needed.
Flexible charging, tethering and cradle options
Charge the sled, the mobile computer — or both together
Charging solutions are designed to provide flexible ways to power up in different configurations, including charging the sled by itself, the mobile computer by itself, or both when attached together.
USB connectivity for tethered use
Select models support USB connections that allow the sled to be used as a tethered RFID reader with a host device, supporting workflows like staging, testing and other desk-based operations.
Cradles that simplify management
Cradle options include charge-only and communication variants, designed to help streamline device handling and support operational consistency at scale.
World-class development and enablement tools
Move to the latest generation without a major rewrite
RFD40 SDKs are based on Zebra RFID handheld SDK foundations, helping teams transition more smoothly by minimizing application rework. Supported configurations can connect to 123RFID Desktop to help with setup, proofs-of-concept, demos and firmware upgrades.
No host? no problem.
Batch mode enables collecting large volumes of RFID tag reads when real-time connectivity to back-end systems isn’t available, then syncing later to upload data to the host device.
Durability you can depend on
Designed for everyday knocks and bumps in busy environments, RFD40 sleds are built with ruggedization features intended to keep devices in service across typical retail, warehouse and operational workflows. Sealing and environmental resilience considerations help support real-world use where dust, water exposure and temperature swings can be part of the day.
