Are Amazon Barcode Scanners Worth it?

Are you considering buying a barcode scanner off of Amazon? *Consider the following before you do:*

Imagine this scenario: A business owner calls into our company looking for help with a barcode scanner. They tell us that they had just purchased it off of Amazon and have been running into a few problems. They've already tried reaching out to the seller or the manufacturer and either received no response or very superficial support of little value. So then they call us as a last resort. Unfortunately, there is little we can do to help out in this scenario. These sorts of scanners often have special programming that makes them hard to work on or simply lack the features required by the end-user.

We get this sort of call very frequently and it's frustrating for everyone involved. We wish there was more we could do to help. In an effort to deter at least a few people from making the same mistake: we decided to order some of these knock-off barcode scanners from Amazon and put them to the test against their name-brand competition. The video below is the result of that testing. **Spoiler: they didn't pass the test.**
