[The IC-156P][1] is MicroTouch's entry into the Windows/Android Touch computer market. With its solid performance, adequate build quality, and affordable price, the computer is a great addition to any retail counter or medium-duty industrial application. The unit features a 15.6” capacitive touch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. MicroTouch also [offers a 21" version as well][2], if you're looking for something larger. Image-quality wise, the computer performs well. During our review, we ran the computer through a number of monitor color and refresh-rate tests. The image held up well when compared to similar-tiered items on the market like the Elo i-Series or POS-X TP6 and in some aspects like color-richness, exceeded the competition. Moving to overall build quality, we found the unit to hold up pretty well. Most of the unit's exterior is made of plastic but internal components are made of steel. Without a stand, it comes in at about 13 pounds. A big thing to highlight about this model is the lack of an included stand which is not standard in the POS computer industry. Even so, the computer supports a 100x100 VESA mount for compatibility with most standardized monitor stands on the market. During our stability testing, we [used MicroTouch’s official VESA stand][3]. With that stand, the unit performed well. It held up to rapid aggressive tapping without any significant movement. The stand was somewhat limited in it's range of upward and downward pivot motion and it did lack a concealed cable managment system, but given that the stand isn't an official part of the computer, we won't knock it too hard for that. Taking a look at connection options, you’ll find four USB ports - two 2.0 and two 3.0 - along with a USB-C port. This is a somewhat newer addition in today's POS computer market so we'll give the unit points for the forward-thinking. The unit also features an RJ45 LAN port, an RS232 port, and a Mini DisplayPort. Built in BT 4.2 and WiFi receivers are also included. All of that is pretty in line with other comparable models on the market today. There’s also two module ports - one on the side and one on the back - that support an MSR and a Camera Module.
