<h1 class="ltblue blog">How to Pair your SocketScan 700 Series with a Windows Computer</h1>

When pairing the scanner to a Windows Computer, the Socket Scanner needs to be placed into HID Mode in order to scan Barcodes into text fields. Once in HID Mode, you then must pair to the Windows Computer. The easiest way to achieve both is to use the Socket Mobile Companion Setup Application.

Setup

<ol>
 <li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">To begin, download the Companion App from this link here: <a href="https://www.socketmobile.com/support/downloads/companion-app" target="_blank" title=" Socket Companion Application">Socket Companion Application</a>.
	</li>
 <li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">Start the application and follow the On-Screen Setup steps.
	</li>
 <li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">After the setup is complete, there will be a new icon on your Windows Task Tray.
 </li>

			<li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">Right Click and Select Open once you have located the Companion App's Icon on your Windows Task Tray.
			</li>

 <li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">Follow the On-Screen Instructions from the Setup Wizard.

 <li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">Ensure your Mobile Scanner is already charged and available, you will be scanning barcodes generated on the screen.
 <li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">If you cannot scan the barcodes or if you have a Laser Reader version such as the S730, you can print the barcodes. See further below for instructions on how to print the onscreen barcodes.
 </ol>
	<li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">From Page 4, Select Bluetooth Settings to pair the scanner you just configured. This will open your Windows Bluetooth Menu to Search for your Socket Scanner.
 </li>
	 <ol type="A">
			<li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">After pairing, you can test your scanner by opening a Windows Notepad or Text Document and scanning a barcode into the text field. If this works, you have successfully setup and paired your Scanner. There may be further steps required for your specific application such as enabling Carriage Return — Please refer to the user manual.
			</li>

Printing the On-Screen Barcodes
 
Barcode Scanners that use a Laser Reader instead of an Imager, cannot scan barcodes off of a devices screen. This is due to how a Laser Reader scans reflected light from the white & black lines of the physical barcode while an Imager instead takes a photo and then scans the lines digitally.

<li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">When the first barcode is on the screen, you can use Windows+Shift+S to open your Windows Screen Grab Utility. After selecting the area, you can then use Paste(ctrl+v) into Microsoft Paint, Word, or any other Photo Editor/Word Processor that supports image pasting.

<li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">If Windows+Shift+S does not work for you, you can search for Windows Snipping Tool in your Windows Searchbar. You can also use Print Screen button on your keyboard, but you will need to crop the image.
</ol>
<li style="font-weight: bold; font-size: larger;">After you have successfully captured the image and have it copied into a Photo Editor or Word Processor, you can then simply print the document for you to scan with the Socket Scanner.
