FAQ# 1092:

What equipment is required to operate a printer-driven cash drawer?

Question

What equipment is required to operate a printer-driven cash drawer?

Answer

In order to use a printer-driven cash drawer, three components are necessary: a cash drawer, a receipt printer with a cash drawer kick port, and the correct cash drawer cable.

Generally speaking, all receipt printers are capable of kicking any cash drawer. In order to assure correct operation, however, a cash drawer cable compatible with both your cash drawer and receipt printer is necessary. You can find the correct cable listed as a recommended accessory with most cash drawers listed on our site, however, we always recommend speaking with one of our technical sales representatives before making a purchase, as they can help prevent mistakes which cost money and time.
