Is Cash Register Express EMV Ready?
Yes, although you must have a Heartland Credit Card Processing Account as they are the only merchant services provider that PC America has integrated into their software at this time. You can be EMV compliant without integration with your software if you purchase a stand-alone EMV Ready payment terminal found here: POSGuys Payment Terminals.
Want to Make Credit Processing Simple? We Can Do That.

On the left side of the Configuration screen for Quickbooks integration in Cash Register express, as seen here, you may find certain options missing from the Transactions section.
This occurs when you do not have the correct module for Cash Register Express. Much like the Barcode Express module adds label printing functionality to the software, the Accounting module increases the functionality of Quickbooks integration in CRE.
To perform a return transaction in Cash Register Express, follow these instructions:
Scan the product you wish to return, or enter its product number using your keyboard.
Click Quan Change.
Enter -1 (if you are accepting a return on more than one of the same product, enter the appropriate quantity). Click OK. The product will now be highlighted red, and the price will be displayed in parentheses, indicating a negative total.
Proceed with the transaction as normal: If you wish to disburse cash to the customer, select a cash payment; if you wish to place a credit on their credit card or a gift card, choose accordingly.
If this error occurs when you launch the software and you are unable to bring up the registration screen or progress any farther, there may be a chance your registration file is corrupt. You'll want to contact technical support at 1-800-903-6571 or email at support@posguys.com, or contact PCAmerica directly for assistance with this issue.

More than likely, the reason why you are unable to run a VISA Giftcard as a credit card within Cash Register Express is due to your payment processor. Your payment processor is likely not set up to process those transaction types. Give your payment processor a call, and ask if you are set up to process VISA Giftcards.

You can modify clock in and clock out times as well as break times within CRE. The way to complete this is by using the Time Clock Management feature. Once in the Time Clock Management section, select the date range at the top and select refresh for it to update the data. Now expand the Employee data by clicking on the cross, then select time breaks. Once the time has been adjusted, you may use the back arrow in the purple bar to get back to the previous screen.

In Cash Register Express, Tag along items are items that are added or 'tagged' on to a chosen item. This is done so that when the main item is rung up, the tagged item will automatically ring up after it.
To create a tag along item you will need to go to the Options -> Administrative -> Inventory Maintenance. This is where you enter in items from your existing inventory to ring up after the item you have selected. To do so, find the item you would like to add a tag along item to (you can find this my searching for the item under Enter Search Text). Under Tag Along Items on the item page, select the green check mark. Under Enter Search Text, search for the Tag Along item, highlight it, and hit Select. Then select Save. This should add the second item as a tag along item to the first one.
In the Inventory Maintenance screen, there will be a section listed for Tag Along items.

Yes. The two softwares are designed to integrate with each other, using the same database. This setup is ideal for situations where a customer or business is wanting to have a retail option for their business as well as a restaurant add-on or vice versa.

The message "Serv Not Allowed” generally means that the EBT transactions you are trying to run in CRE is not set up properly for the Merchant record on the processor side. This typically happens when an account is not configured to accept Discover or Amex, and sometimes EBT. Since this is EBT specific, you should make sure that the “Supports Tokenization” check box is unchecked in the Payment Processing tab for the EBT setup. If unchecking the box alone does not solve the problem, we would recommend contacting your processor to ensure the EBT account is setup correctly.

PC America, the parent company of Cash Register Express (CRE), now has a new partnership with Heartland Payment Systems.
CRE certified annual support contracts now cover a full site - not each license as it was before - so if you have 3+ stations you are already reaping the savings
Also include in the new annual support contract is a partnership with Heartland (when you have a new Heartland payment contract) covering any payment processing issues you may have
CRE partnership with Heartland Payment Systems will also enhance the software's ability to process integrated EMV transactions, and make set up much easier since all pin pads will come pre-encrypted.
CRE Pro license cost has increased slightly, but is still competitively priced with in the market.

While CRE does not have an estimates or quotes feature per say, the newest releases of Cash Register Express do have a feature built in, called Dockets. With dockets, you are able to print out an invoice of rung up items, minus the costs, and print that out for your customer. Unfortunately, at this time, the only way to get prices to show up within the docket, is to hand write in the cost.
In order to get to the Docket section, you will need to log into Cash Register Express. Once logged in, and you have items that have been rung up, open up your Options Menu. Now, within the Options menu, select the Cashier field. Here you can then select the Dockets feature, providing you have items rung up as if you were about to do a transaction. The Docket will print out as a full sized invoice in an 8 1/2 x 11 format, with the Item Number, Description, and Invoice #, minus the cost amounts.
Once you have printed off your docket, you can void the transaction if the customer is not interested in purchasing anything at that time.
After receiving the download link for Cash Register Express, and downloading the CREsetup.exe file, you are going to want to right click on the file, usually found within your downloads folder on your computer, and Run As Administrator.
Yes. If you install the windows driver for the TM-M10, you can select it in the Friendly Printer Setup section.
Options > Setup > Friendly Printer Setup
In order for the receipt to format correctly for the 2-inch width you’ll actually need to select the Printer Type: Epson TM-U220. And if you have a logo you’ll need to make sure to resize it. The unfortunate side effect will be that the invoice barcode will not print on the bottom of the receipt.

In the recent 14.1001 release of Cash Register Express, Heartland has introduced the Barcode Designer into the software, allowing slight modification of the information that is displayed on a label type. In the new release of the software, the Barcode Designer is turned on when the ZD410 label printer format is selected in the Friendly Printer Setup section for Printer Type under Label option.
Next time Barcode Express is opened to print labels, there will be two options presented to either Barcode Print or open the Barcode Designer.
**Please Note** Making this change will also affect the format of the label to only print on half of the label (2.25" x 1.25"). In order for the printer to utilize the full format of this label size, the TLP/2824 Label Printer format has to be selected for the Printer Type in the Friendly Printer Setup. The downside to this selection, is that the software is left with the traditional Barcode Express, and not the newer Barcode Designer feature.
