We get asked how to take different forms of payment, especially the less common kinds (i.e. beyond debit/credit cards). Your ability to accept these different forms of payment is based on two different factors: the POS software you have, and the payment processor you have. Most POS software has a particular payment processor to use with it, but it's a good idea to see which you have. What types of payment should you double check with your payment processor about? <ul><li>EBT (Electronic payment for SNAP, previously known as food stamps) <li>Gift Cards (especially proprietary gift cards) <li>Visa gift cards </ul> For more information on what payment processors take EBT, see the <a href="http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/how-accept-snap-benefits-your-store">USDA web site</a>, which includes information about EBT for new retailers and a list of payment processors that accept EBT.
