The Datalogic QuickScan I QD2400 is a 2D area imager designed for affordability. With the ability to scan LCD screens, the scanner is a great choice for mobile couponing or customer loyalty scanning.
Typical uses and environments:
The lightweight QuickScan I QD2400 is an ideal option for medium to high volume retail scanning, or as a secondary scanner in grocery environments.
Standard Features & Advantages:
Everything you need is included in the box, including interface cable and quick start guide. There is a presentation stand available, in case you want additional functionality. The QuickScan is relatively light in hand, and the ergonomic design is comfortable for users of varying hand sizes. When scanning, the QuickScan’s illumination pattern is a solid beam, with no flickering.
Unique Advantages:
The QuickScan features a unique aiming system. Two blue triangles point to the prime scanning area, making it easy to scan successfully. After a successful scan, Datalogic’s Green Spot technology gives you a visual cue, great if you cannot or should not hear the audible beep.
Drawbacks:
A major feature for higher-end 2D scanners is the ability to parse scanned data and change the output. Specifically, they can scan the PDF417 barcode on the back of a driver’s license and output the data in the way you prefer. This speeds up tasks such as customer loyalty signup, healthcare admitting, and credit card application sign up. Unfortunately, the QuickScan QD2400 lacks this capability.
Performance Testing:
To test the performance of the Datalogic QuickScan I QD2400, we ran it through a series of tests, including scan range testing, barcode density, and barcode width. We tested QD2430-BKK1, the black model with included USB cable. Our testing determined the scanner to be adequate for its intended use.
The QuickScan I QD2400 is advertised to scan standard UPC barcodes from contact to 13.8 inches. In our testing, the scanner had difficulty getting reads from farther than 10 inches. Within that tolerance, the scanner is quick and accurate, but it does mean products may need to be repositioned for easier scanning. In light testing, the QuickScan I QD2400 was able to scan barcodes in all lighting environments, including direct sunlight.
A breakdown of the Datalogic QuickScan I QD2400's capabilities is listed in table and graph form below.

Largest Barcode Scanned | 120.65mm | Average |

Conclusion:
The Datalogic QuickScan I QD2400 is a smart choice for retailers looking for affordable 2D scanning. If you need additional functionality, including driver’s license parsing, we recommend a higher-end model, such as the Datalogic Gryphon.
