Age Verification Mode With Code's CR3600 Series Scanner

Have a CR3600 series scanner from Code, and want to use it in Age Verification mode? 
 
POSGuys.com Technical Support team can assist you with that. It requires some minor re-programming of the device in order to work in AV mode. The following steps will help you to get the device programmed. 
The first thing you want to do, is download CortexTools from our website, POSGuys.com under the CR3600 series scanner. Then, you will need to contact POSGuys.com Technical Support team via phone or email in order to get the firmware files needed for this process.
 
Putting the standard CR3600 into age verification mode:
 
 - First off, place CR3600 scanner into cradle, and connect to the PC.
 - Navigate to the downloads folder where you downloaded the CR3600 AV Files folder from POSGuys Technical Support, and open the folder.
 - Install CortexTools (you will need to have .NET Framework 4.6 installed, otherwise Cortex will install it for you)
 - Once installed, open CortexTools. 
 - With the ‘CR3600 AV files’ folder open, open the CRB Files folder. 
 - Drag, and drop CRB files into CortexTools in the ‘Download to Reader’ section, one at a time. 
 - Click Download File. 
 - Repeat the above process for the secondary CRB file.
 - Open the Code CR3600AV JavaScript folder. 
 - Drag, and drop each script file over to CortexTools, one at a time. 
 - Click Download File.
 - Device should reboot, but it’s ok if it does not.
 - Repeat above process for secondary script file.
 - After the device reboots (if it does not, pop the battery, reseat it, and hold down the buttons on either side of the directional pad at the same time till the device reboots), before you select an application, exit. 
 - Exit applications, say yes. 
 - In the main screen, select Options. 
 - Select Settings. 
 - Select Application. 
 - Select the file called J505_AV_C311_Store. 
 - Set as Default.
 - Device should be in Age Verification mode now, and capable of use. 
 
One thing that you may want to change on the settings in AV mode, is to selection Options > Set Passback > and select 0. Otherwise, the default timeout between scanning an identical ID (scanning the same ID twice) will be set to a 60 minute lockout. Setting this to 0 gets rid of the lockout for scanning duplicate IDs.
