Receipt Printers and Drivers

Receipt Printer Drivers
All receipt printer manufacturers produce their own Windows drivers. In most cases there are drivers for both 32 bit and 64 bit windows versions. If you get a warning about a driver being unsigned or unconfirmed click the "install anyways". Download Drivers Here: A full list of available receipt printer drivers is available here: [https://posguys.com/drivers.asp?catID=12][1] USB, Parallel, or Serial Connections Generally when installing the printer you will want to download the drivers first, run the executable but not power on or plug in the printer until you are prompted to do so. Printers using USB should be auto-detected by windows. Printers using parallel or serial interfaces will need you to specify the external port that the printer is plugged into. For parallel this is normally LPT1. For serial you can check Windows Device Manager and see what COM port number were assigned to your printer. The settings on your serial port should be 9600, N, 8, 1. Network Printer Installations For network printers you will need Windows drivers along with setting an ip address on your printer. Many network capable printers will have an LCD screen to assist with assigning an ip address. The ones that do not will print out a configuration sheet with it's ip address. WiFi printers work the same way but will also need the wifi information given to it. Some wifi configuration requires setup via a USB cable. Mac Installations Mac drivers are available for certain Epson and Star models. These will install similar to windows. Please see our product specific pages or drivers page for available drivers. iOS Installations Star and Epson have ios drivers available, in most cases they require a network connection (wired or wireless). In the case of iOS when printing off an ipad or iphone you normally don't need to install a driver, but put the printer onto the same network as your tablet or phone. Your point of sale software will be looking for a printer with the correct name on your network. When it sees that printer it will be able to use it. Not all Apple Aps work with all printers, you must use the exact model of printer specified by that application. **Updated 5/1/2016* [1]: https://posguys.com/drivers.asp?catID=12
