Where do gift cards come from? Are they secure? Manager/Employee cards? Loyalty cards? Seems easy enough... Here is the link to our Card Printing. First, we have Customer Gift Cards and loyalty cards, they can be very bold with your company logo or look like a wrapped gift. Forms of Payment
By: KC - 4/7/2014

We get asked how to take different forms of payment, especially the less common kinds (i.e. beyond debit/credit cards). Your ability to accept these different forms of payment is based on two different factors: the POS software you have, and the payment processor you have. Most POS software has a particular payment processor to use with it, but it's a good idea to see which you have. What types of payment should you double check with your payment processor about? EBT (Electronic payment for SNAP, previously known as food stamps) Gift Cards (especially proprietary gift cards) Visa gift card...

Mobile Computers
By: KC - 3/14/2014

We get a lot of questions about mobile computers: what are they, how do they differ from consumer smartphones, and why would you want to use them? Here’s the rundown on mobile computers to give you a better idea of what is best for your business. Benefits of Mobile Computers The best way to think about mobile computers is they are essentially like mobile phones without a phone plan, specifically designed for POS applications. How much they resemble modern mobile phones depends on the kind you get, and we’ll go into the different kinds a bit later, but overall they tend to operate fairly simil...

Model Number vs Part Number
By: KC - 2/14/2014

Oh yes, the never ending "do you know the part number?" and getting back a general model number. The difference between the two is that the model number is the general number for that specific product. The part number is the specific and unique number to the model. For example, looking for a receipt printer. You know you have an Epson brand and its a TM-U220. That is a great start, but there are multiple things that go in to the part numbers being specific. What color? Autocutter? No Autocutter? USB? Serial? Parallel? Ethernet? All of these things go in to making a part number and ...

How Shipping Works
By: KC - 1/17/2014

I know ordering something online can be great, but the anticipation of waiting for your order to arrive in a timely order can be overwhelming. For most of our products that we have in-stock and over $100 ship ground at no charge to the customer. Our shipping cut off time is 2:30pm pst. For example, if someone was to order on Thursday at 3:30pm pst, that order will not ship out until the following business day, more than likely Friday. If you order on Friday before 2:30pm pst it will get shipped out that day. If you pay for 1-day shipping on a Friday, do not expect it to there Saturday. Saturda...

Help! I’m not a geek!
By: KC - 12/19/2013

So, this is often how I feel when I crack a joke at work. It is also how I feel sometimes when the people around me crack a joke about a super hero or Lord of the Rings book or movie. However, working with POS software and equipment isn’t something people just know off the top of their head. Some of the “techy” things come easier to some than to others though. For example, sometimes customers call in and/or purchase something online and just buy the cheapest version of what they are looking to buy. They either 1. Don’t know there are different interfaces. 2. Didn’t pay attention to the interfa...

A Penny for your thoughts
By: KC - 12/19/2013

I am surrounded by people that I don’t have a whole lot in common with, except humor. Pretty much everyone in the sales/tech/returns room that I work in, is some type of gamer. They collect and talk about things that are foreign to me and often seem like they have their own language. There were some that were talking about “PAX”, which I had never heard of, and when I finally asked out loud, there was a pause of silence and then chuckles. It was almost as if someone had asked me “What’s the Super Bowl?” Awkward at times, but learning nonetheless. Learning about merchandise, and problem solving...

Introduction as a Non-Techy
By: KC - 12/18/2013

So first, I am going to introduce myself. I am married and have a 1 year old daughter. I have 1 younger sister, 1 nephew and 2 nieces. I have a bachelors degree in Sport Management (go figure) and played softball in college on scholarship for 4 years. I don't play video games and am not 'techy' at all. Previously worked at a jewelry store and loved being a part of that amazing, special moment when people decide they want to spend the rest of their life together. Helping a man or woman, who are usually scared at the thought of such a big purchase, calm down and pick the perfect piece, was magic...
