Some models include an auto-sense stand for convenient hands-free operation. Contact scanners must touch the barcode for an accurate read, whereas wand scanners require you to swipe the tip across the barcode manually.

High Volume Retail

2D Scanners

For more advanced scanning, a 2D scanner is a great choice. These scanners can read omnidirectionally, eliminating the need to reorient the barcode prior to scanning. Advanced optics in some models can perform OCR or even capture images, great for proof of payment for checks. For credit card or customer loyalty applications, or healthcare admitting, select barcode scanners can be modified to parse driver's license barcode data and send it in a specific order.
